Seth Tyler Black
is a New York based interdisciplinary artist & designer, with roots in Buffalo & Philadelphia. Designing & prop mastering for theatre and film since 2011, Black always puts art and storytelling at the forefront. A few of Black's credits include Nightmare Alley, A Quiet Place 2, and Gabriel's Inferno in film, along with productions of Faust, Hedwig & the Angry Inch, In the Heights, Angels in America, Camelot and newly devised pieces with Amy Taravella, David Butler, & Gerry Trentham in theatre. Leaning back into theatre post-pandemic, Seth Tyler Black's design work in 2024 has included projection design for The Words Will Come [premiere, NYC], The AI in Delphi [premiere, Buffalo], and a projection installation for a fashion runway show at Grace Exhibition Space in Lower Manhattan. Black has also scenic designed runs of Drowzy Chaperone [NYC], You Can't Take It With You [NYC], and Venus in Fur [Bristol], as well as prop supervised Gin Game [Bristol], Cats: the Musical [Lincoln], and In the Heights [Bristol]. Seth Tyler Black was also the Head of Props for an opera production with Yale Opera [New Haven]. This 2025 year, Seth Tyler Black has designed the set for the Off Broadway production of The Price [NYC], as well as prop supervised numerous other plays and musicals, such as In the Heights [Bristol] & a full lineup with Barrington Stage Company: N/A [Pittsfield], fuzzy [Pittsfield], Camelot [Pittsfield]. Black has also provided prop insight for '71 Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts, and also served as prop designer for an Off Broadway production of Shaw's Pygmalion. Black served as projection designer for a run of Sonny Marwah's new play Training_Set at Theatre Row in Manhattan. |
